St Dominic's formal transition program commenced in Term 4 2017. Transition meetings are the first opportunity to begin collecting information to ensure an individualised and successful transition occurs. Parents are provided with a number of documents to complete which assist St Dominic's in best preparing for our new students.
During transition meetings, we request that parents bring along all current and updated specialist reports that have not been submitted upon application. An invitation is also extended to any external supports or case managers involved with the child.
Students who have accepted a position will be offered three visits to the school during Term 4. During visits, students will participate in structured learning activities in the classroom, engage in social interaction during recess and lunch breaks and the secondary students spend their transition lessons with the current cohort.
Students who enrol during the year will have an individualised transition program that will be designed in consultation with the coordinator, current setting, parents and specialist recommendation.
